Artist: Katia McGuirk
Biography:
Katia McGuirk studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work has been displayed at the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works, Tile Heritage Foundation, Community Built Association, Katia McGuirk Tile Company. Since 2000 Ms. McGuirk has designed and installed over 30 public murals.

Mosaic Project
Students learn mosaic techniques in the style of Philadephia artist Isaiah Zagar and sculptural techniques by building their “favorite thing.” Continue reading

Class introduces basics of clay sculpture and children sculpt their own bird and nest with egg. Continue reading
Leave Your Legacy Bench
Students create their own personal tiles used as part of a mosaic bench for the school. Continue reading
Field Trip to the Artist’s Studio
Visit a working ceramic tile studio in Bucks County. Students also create their own tile. Continue reading

Study designs of Native Americans, learn traditional clay handbuilding, slipping and sgraffiato. Continue reading
