How it works

Artists In Residence Program Information

Students work directly with our teaching artists in hands-on workshops. Each workshop is approximately one hour long and meets one to three times. Residencies can be tailored to fit into your curriculum, scheduling requirements and budget. All artists have had background checks and have been thoroughly screened. Whether you desire a school-wide mosaic mural, a ceramic project to enhance a history lesson, or a dance program, AIR artists will encourage your students to foster new ways of thinking, seeing and doing.

Cost of Residencies:

Costs vary depending upon the length of the residency and material fees. The artist fee is $250 per day for up to four classes, with an additional $125 for a 5th and 6th section, if necessary. Planning sessions with artists are available for custom projects at $50 per session. Schools pay a 10% administration fee, plus travel expenses, when applicable. Material fees are listed under each program description.

Funding:

Most programs are funded by either the school’s parent-teacher organization, school funding, or grants. However, it is part of AIR’s mission to make it possible for our community’s most underserved populations to access the arts. In keeping with this mission, we provide schools that can demonstrate an economic need with partial to fully subsidized residencies.
